What shoes to buy? - Regular, Wide or Extra Wide?

One of the most common questions the customers ask is whether to buy Regular fitting, Wide or perhaps Extra wide? The problem is Wide fitting from one manufacturer is not the same as Wide fitting from another. The exact width measurement will also change with the shoe size, the bigger the size the wider the fitting will be.

As a guidance we have compiled the following shoe width comparisan chart for various brands. The measurements are taken at the widest part of the shoe sole, outside.

Compare these measurements with the measurements of your old, well fitting shoes rather than your bare foot. If you measure your bare foot flat on the floor it will appear wider than the width of the shoe sole, but bear in mind the shape of the foot changes into narrower when you place it in a shoe! This makes your your shoe stay on and supports your foot.

The chart below compares only the widths of the soles as 2D, it does not take into account the 3D factor that is the amount of material that wraps around the foot. You can not find a perfect fit without trying the shoes on, but we hope the information below may prevent you from making some bad buying decisions.
